The Dragon Boat Festival
duān wǔ jié ， shì zhōnɡ ɡuó nónɡ lì de wǔ yuè chū wǔ 。
端 午 节 ， 是 中 国 农 历 的 五 月 初 五 。
zhè ɡe jié rì shì wèi le jì niàn yí wèi zhōnɡ chénɡ shī rén hé zhènɡ zhì jiā — —
这 个 节 日 是 为 了 纪 念 一 位 忠 诚 诗 人 和 政 治 家 — —
qū yuán zhī sǐ ， jù shuō tā tóu shuǐ zì jìn ér wánɡ 。
屈 原 之 死 ， 据 说 他 投 水 自 尽 而 亡 。
The Dragon Boat Festival,also called the Duanwu Festival,is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar.This festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan,an upright and honest poet and statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river.
zhè ɡe jié rì zuì zhònɡ yào de huó dònɡ shì lónɡ zhōu jìnɡ sài ，
这 个 节 日 最 重 要 的 活 动 是 龙 舟 竞 赛 ，
tā xiànɡ zhēnɡ zhe rén men wéi zhěnɡ jiù qū yuán suǒ fù chū de nǔ lì 。
它 象 征 着 人 们 为 拯 救 屈 原 所 付 出 的 努 力 。
xiàn zài ， zhè xiē bǐ sài yě tǐ xiàn le xié zuò yǐ jí tuán duì hé zuò de yōu diǎn 。
现 在 ， 这 些 比 赛 也 体 现 了 协 作 以 及 团 队 合 作 的 优 点。
The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races.It symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu Yuan.In the current period,these races also demonstrate the virtues of cooperation and teamwork.
cǐ wài, zhè ɡe jié rì bèi jì zhù shì yīn wèi tè shū de shí wù — — zònɡ zi 。
此 外 , 这 个 节 日 被 记 住 是 因 为 特 殊 的 食 物 — — 粽 子 。
zònɡ zi shì yóu nuò mǐ zhì chénɡ de ， lǐ miàn tián chōnɡ zhe bù tónɡ de xiàn liào ，
粽 子 是 由 糯 米 制 成 的 ， 里 面 填 充 着 不 同 的 馅 料 ，
wài miàn yònɡ zhú yè huò lú wěi yè bāo ɡuǒ 。
外 面 用 竹 叶 或 芦 苇 叶 包 裹 。
měi nián āi dào qū yuán de rén ， dū huì bǎ zònɡ zi rēnɡ dào hé lǐ wèi tā de ɡuǐ hún 。
每 年 哀 悼 屈 原 的 人 ， 都 会 把 粽 子 扔 到 河 里 喂 他 的 鬼 魂 。
Besides,the festival has also been marked by eating zong zi.Zong zi is made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves.People who mourned the death of Qu threw Zong zi into the river to feed his ghost every year.

随 着 时 代 的 变 化 ,
zhè fèn jì niàn zhuǎn wéi bǎo hù rén men bú shòu xié è lì liànɡ de yínɡ xiǎnɡ hé qū zhú jí bìnɡ 。
这 份 纪 念 转 为 保 护 人 们 不 受 邪 恶 力 量 的 影 响 和 驱 逐 疾 病 。
rén men huì bǎ jiàn kānɡ de cǎo yào ɡuà zài qián mén ， yǐ qīnɡ chú fánɡ zi de huài yùn qi 。
人 们 会 把 健 康 的 草 药 挂 在 前 门 ， 以 清 除 房 子 的 坏 运 气 。

虽 然 这 个 节 日 的 意 义 可 能 不 同 与 过 去,
tā rénɡ rán shǐ rén men kàn dào le fēnɡ fù de zhōnɡ ɡuó wén huà yí chǎn de yí bù fen 。
它 仍 然 使 人 们 看 到 了 丰 富 的 中 国 文 化 遗 产 的 一 部 分 。
With the changes of the times，the memorial turns to be a time for protection from evil and disease for the rest of year.People will hang healthy herbs on the front door to clear the bad luck of the house.Although the significance of the festival might be different with the past，it still gives the observer an opportunity to glimpse a part of the rich Chinese cultural heritage.
